Sugar Cookies
Makes 3 dozen cut outs
1 1/3 cups shortening
1 ½ cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
8 tsp. milk
4 cups sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
Assorted jimmies and colored sugars
Frosting
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla in a mixer at
medium speed. Beat in eggs. Add milk and dry ingredients
and beat until well mixed. Divide dough in half. On a
floured surface roll out one half of dough until 1/4
inch thickness. Cut out hearts and place one inch apart
on a slightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees
for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are lightly brown on
the bottoms. Cool slightly then transfer to wire racks
to cool completely. Frost as desir.
